Faircape Restaurant and Catering, a division of Faircape Life retirement villages, operates across six prime locations in the Western Cape, delivering high-quality dining services to residents and patients in our onsite healthcare centres.
We are currently looking for a Runner/Waiter to join our team at Tokai Estate in the Southern Suburbs.
This role combines front-of-house service with operational support—you'll ensure residents and guests receive excellent service with professionalism and care, while also assisting behind the scenes by running supplies, supporting service flow, and setting up or rearranging furniture for events and functions to ensure venues are ready and well-presented.
Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Supporting with moving and arranging furniture as needed for internal functions or events, ensuring spaces are prepared safely and promptly.
- When no functions are scheduled, assisting as a runner/waiter—supporting service staff, kitchen, or bar with deliveries, clean-up, or restocking duties.
- Changing table linen as required and ensuring dirty or damaged linen is counted and exchanged for clean, usable items.
- Cleaning and refilling cruet and condiment sets.
- Setting tables to laid-down standards, ensuring that all items used are clean, undamaged and in a good state of repair.
- Ensure cleanliness standards are consistently met in assigned areas
- Have thorough knowledge of all menu items to confidently recommend or explain options to residents.
- Serving food and beverages in accordance with laid-down standards, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Practicing excellent customer relations at all times, accommodating resident needs without inconveniencing other guests.
- Handling customer complaints effectively and reporting all complaints to the manager.
- Assisting with daily, weekly and monthly stock audits, reporting variances or breakages to your manager.
- Ensuring accurate billing of orders and reporting any errors to the manager.
Experience and knowledge:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Bartending experience advantageous
- Knowledge of serving etiquette

Salary and Additional benefits:
We offer a competitive salary. The amount offered will be dependent on qualifications, experience, and other market-related factors.
- Your total salary will include Sundays - remunerated at time and a half, public holidays - double and quarterly bonuses paid every 3 months.
- Bonus - Quarterly Bonuses are paid every 3 months and are based on individual performance and company performance.
